Subway Surfers is approaching its ten-year anniversary, and so many years later, new players are still jumping in as the game receives new updates. But one thing about the game that has never changed is the goal, and if you're new to the subway, you may be wondering if there is ever an end to the game.
There is an entire genre of mobile games, and titles in general, that belong to the idea of platformers with endless trails. Each of them is based on getting the highest score possible with increasing obstacles. Temple Run was one of the first titles to bring this genre to its current popularity.
Subway Surfers - Does the game have an end?
When you open up Subway Surfers, you'll notice that there is only one "Play" button at the bottom of the screen. This queues up the standard endless runner arcade mode that puts you in the shoes of a chosen character. From here, the goal is to get as far as possible with the highest amount of score.
There is no set end to the mode, and if you are successfully dodging obstacles, then the game will technically continue forever. Unlike when the game first came out, there is a pause button that can halt the mode, but it will not be completed like other games. Going down to an obstacle will also end the mode, but that means the run was lost.

Another way to think about Subway Surfers is there is no completion of the game. You cannot beat the game, but only increase your highest score and continue to collect new items and skins. Aside from the main mode on the tracks, there are sub-modes or tasks that you can take on for more rewards.
These modes can be completed and will even be checked off when the requirements are met. Each task is typically part of a seasonal event or the daily rewards given when you log in to your own account.
What is the goal of Subway Surfers?
Though there is no way to complete Subway Surfers, there is still a main goal for anyone to chase after. Simply put, the goal is to increase your score to the point of reaching a new high score. It matches the goals of classic arcade games.
As you get farther in a Subway Surfers endless run, multipliers will typically go up, along with the speed of your character on the tracks. Difficulty rises and the ability to gain score without a hiccup will be shaky. It takes some practice, but that's the name of the game.
