Stardew Valley's newest 1.6 update contains tons of new content, and is finally available on consoles and mobile. But unfortunately, as fans have noticed, the update also contains a strange bug that may cause players' chickens to disappear.

Stardew Valley creator ConcernedApe acknowledged the issue on X/Twitter, noting that it occurs when players start a new Meadowlands farm and then open the animal door to the coop on day 1. After the coop is opened, the chickens will disappear.

ConcernedApe also  joked that there is a "wild coyote on the farm" on day 1 for now, but assured players that the bug will soon be fixed.

As a temporary solution, ConcernedApe suggested leaving the animal door closed throughout all of day 1 to protect the chickens. "It should save them," he wrote.

Some players joked that the coyote should be actually added to the game, potentially even as an adoptable creature.

ConcernedApe has stated that the "bug will be fixed," though there's no specific timeline quite yet.
