In a Nintendo Direct dropped on Thursday 26th March, Nintendo provided an update on who will be the first character from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Fighters Pass 2.
While rumours suggested Crash Bandicoot would be included first, Nintendo confirmed the first character will be from ARMS - without specifying who it would be from the game’s roster.
They also explained how development time will take longer than usual, likely due to the virus outbreak, so the character will be revealed and released in June 2020.
If you aren’t familiar with ARMS, Nintendo has also released a free game trial for Nintendo Switch Online members to coincide with the announcement. The free trial ends on 6th April.
Let's get stretchy! The next #SmashBrosUltimate DLC fighter joins from #ARMS – but who will it be?!

The new challenger will be announced and released in June, as part of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Pass Vol. 2! #NintendoDirectMinipic.twitter.com/p2RWd7IXvP
While a character from ARMS makes sense considering it’s a new Nintendo IP, it might come as a disappointment to many expecting a big third-party crossover. The design however could be interesting, especially with the limb stretchiness the title is known for.
Outside of ARMS, there’s still five more characters yet to be revealed for the second Fighters Pass - so there’s plenty of time for your favourites to drop in.
You can pre-purchase the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Pass 2 now on the Nintendo eShop.
