Margot Robbie is set to say "Sul! Sul!" to another huge IP, after The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the star's production company, LuckyChap, will be producing a live-action movie based on The Sims.
Attached to the project is Loki director Kate Herron, who will return to the director's chair for the upcoming adaptation. Herron is also set to co-write the screenplay alongside Briony Redman.
Robbie runs production company LuckyChap with Tom Ackerly, Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr. The team were also the producers behind Greta Gerwig's Barbie. Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment will also be producing The Sims adaptation, while publisher EA will be involved "in a creative and producing capacity."
The Sims has long been one of the best-selling titles in video game history, giving players immense freedom and control over the lives of their Sim households. It also offers players the means to create their Sim's stories and shape them how they wish, be it through success or tragedy.
Given that The Sims has rarely forced players into a narrative direction, save for certain spin-off titles such as the PSP's The Sims 2, it's likely that this upcoming film adaptation will have a unique story.
For now, there's no release window for the upcoming The Sims live-action adaptation as it's likely in early pre-production.
