Silent Hill: Ascension's team released a new trailer for the interactive experience, and it was met with much confusion from Silent Hill fans, who claim that the game doesn't "look like Silent Hill." In fact, some players mentioned that they are "still confused" about what the interactive experience even is.
In the game, players will watch brief episodes in the app, and then use their phones to vote. Whatever decision the community makes, will determine the content of the next episode.
The newest Silent Hill: Ascension trailer focuses on one character, who asks another whether she killed her son as ash falls all around her. The trailer highlights "two families on the brink of damnation," with each of them venturing out into foggy forests full of dog-like monsters with gnashing teeth. It ends with the same woman from the beginning stating, "I didn't kill my son," leaving viewers to wonder.
"The problem with this is that it doesn't look or feel like a Silent Hill story (visually, artistically, thematically)," one Twitter user pointed out. "Looks nothing like Silent Hill, sounds nothing like Silent Hill," another user wrote.
"I don't even have a reaction image to express how awful this looks," another fan joked.
Some users also expressed their frustration with the fact that Silent Hill: Ascension is ready to go for a Halloween release, while there's been no news surrounding the more highly-anticipated Silent Hill 2 Remake since its announcement. However, it's worth noting that the teams behind these two projects are totally different; while Silent Hill: Ascension is the work of Behaviour Interactive and Bad Robot Productions, Bloober Team is handling Silent Hill 2.
While many Silent Hill fans seem concerned about the content in Silent Hill: Ascension, not everyone was disappointed in the upcoming experience. Some users expressed their hope for the upcoming series, stating: "All I ask for is a fun, spooky time. Please!"
