GarrettG apologizes for coming after Firstkiller's dad in Twitter beef

The RLCS Grand Finals got so heated between series that personal attacks were made on the bird app by the defending World Champion.
GarrettG apologizes for coming after Firstkiller's dad in Twitter beef

Professional Rocket League player for NRG and defending World Champion Garrett “GarrettG” Gordon came forward and apologized for his actions on Sunday, 17th October 2021, after he took to Twitter during a heated exchange with rival finalists, FaZe Clan.

The 20-year-old first posted a photo from the lobby in-game chat after a disconnect stoppage where Cloud9 legend and also World Champion Mariano “SquishyMuffinz” Arruda and prodigy Jason "Firstkiller" Corral shared a short back-and-forth.

“You live in your basement alone”, said Firstkiller to which Squishy only reacted with a simple "lol". This quick tweet between games really sparked off a whole lot of memes, and even more heated comments and an intense Grand Finals best-of set.

“Hey man, I’d talk trash to you but I’m afraid your dad is gonna threaten to murder me like he did to insol”, GarrettG ended the discussion with this harsh reply, one he’d later regret.

Garrett refers to former professional Rocket League player Trevor "Insolences" Carmody who retired in late 2019 as one of the scene’s veterans. Neither Firstkiller nor Insol has commented on the matter.

Only a few hours after coming down hard on the 16-year-old and his father, the NRG captain apologized to his followers and fans

“I am honestly extremely upset with today. I hate being involved in any sort of beef/drama cause I genuinely hate no one, however, I did feel the need to stand up for my teammate and I 100 percent let my emotions instigate the situation further.”

The Rocket League legend might’ve been ticked off after the stoppage allowed a goal scored during the disconnect stay on the board -- a goal that would cost them the game and first series and eventually the Championship.

Still, captain Garrett is focused on what’s next for the team during the season and ultimately acknowledged his fierce rivals. “Faze is a great team for sure and it’s gonna be a sweaty season. Happy we made the finals of the first event, ggs.”

After only the first weekend back for the Rocket League Championship Series and spicy rivalries are being foreshadowed for the rest of the year and maybe even to be settled in the upcoming Christmas LAN event.
