Fans of the Nintendo 64 probably remember the 1999 version of Pokémon Snap and can't wait to play New Pokémon Snap, which is about to be released on the Nintendo Switch.
New Pokémon Snap is being developed by Bandai Namco Studios and the game's release is imminent, so let's check what we can expect from the game.
New Pokémon Snap gameplay and story

Like in the original, in this game, you are playing as a Pokémon photographer.
You will be visiting islands in the Lental region and one of your jobs will be to help Professor Mirror and his assistants Rita and Phil while they are researching the area.
You will be able to travel across the islands by using an on-rails hovercraft (the NEO-ONE), and your photos will help Professor Mirror's studies.
Asides from photographing Pokémon, you will also investigate a mysterious Illumina phenomenon. Apparently, both Pokémon and plants have some kind of a special glow, but nobody knows why is that so, and it is on you to solve that mystery.
Featured Pokémon and the Photodex

New Pokémon Snap features over 200 Pokémon and your job is to photograph them all.
You will be visiting their habitats (jungles, deserts, beaches, etc) by day and night and waiting for that perfect moment to take a picture.
- Each photo the player takes is graded by Professor Mirror on a scale of one to four stars
- The grade will depend on factors like shot composition, how close the Pokémon is, whether they are facing the camera or not, etc.
- Taking higher-quality photos will earn you Expedition Points, which will improve the Research Level of each area in the Lental region and open more areas to explore.
Players can use various tools to help with taking photos, for example, a fruit called a fluffruit to lure Pokémon out or playing various melodies which will get some Pokémon to dance. The Illumina orb will make some Pokémon glow or even change behaviour!
