Niantic has begun its Christmas festivities with the launch of its next event, the Winter Holiday, for Pokémon GO's Season of Mythical Wishes. Like the Halloween event, this latest in-game activity will be split into two parts, which Trainers can enjoy with their Buddy Pokémon and friends.
Additionally, plenty of Ice-type Pokémon are appearing, and the event's Timed Research is available to purchase. We've detailed everything about the Winter Holiday's Timed Research, including tasks and rewards in Pokémon GO.
23rd December 2022 Update: Niantic has released new details for the Winter Holiday Part 2, and the Winter Wishes Timed Research, which begins on 23rd December 2022 at 10 am local time. We'll endeavor to provide more updates once more reliable information is available.
Pokémon GO Winter Holiday Timed Research Tasks & Rewards
The Festive spirit will continue in Pokémon GO as the Winter Holiday Part 2 begins on 23rd December 2022 at 10 am local time and concludes on 31st December 2022 at 8 pm local time. During this event, the Timed Research tasks from the first part of the event will carry over, for which you can purchase a ticket to access the event tasks.
The tickets are available from the in-game Shop at $5,00 or the equivalent of your local currency, and you have until 31st December 2022 at 8 pm local time to claim and complete all the tasks. Lastly, as we provided details below, another Timed Research will be made available, free to all Trainers globally.
Let's look at the Timed Research tasks and their respective rewards you can earn for the Pokémon GO Winter Holiday event supplied by notable Pokémon source, Leek Duck:
Winter Holiday Timed Research (1/4):
- Catch ten Pokémon: Spheal Encounter
- Catch ten Ice-type Pokémon: Seel Encounter
- Walk two kilometers: Snover Encounter
- Page Rewards: Incense x1, Abomasnow Mega Energy x50, and a Sneasel Encounter
Winter Holiday Timed Research (2/4):
- Catch ten Ice-type Pokémon: Cubchoo Encounter
- Transfer ten Pokémon: Delibrid Encounter
- Walk two kilometers: Swinub Encounter
- Page Rewards: Incubator x1, Abomasnow Mega Energy x50, and a Galarian Mr. Mime Encounter
Winter Holiday Timed Research (3/4):
- Catch 15 Ice-type Pokémon: Snowy Forme Castform encounter
- Send seven Gifts to friends: Stantler Encounter
- Walk two kilometers: Vanilite Encounter
- Page Rewards: Incubator x1, Abomasnow Mega Energy x50, and a Galarian Darumaka Encounter
Winter Holiday Timed Research (4/4):
- Catch eight various Ice-type Pokémon species: Alolan Sandshrew Encounter
- Catch 15 Ice-type Pokémon: Lapras Encounter
- Hatch one Egg: Alolan Vulpix Encounter
- Page Rewards: Galarian Mr. Mime Encounter and a Gifting Pose Emote
Niantic has also disclosed that tickets for the event-exclusive Timed Research will be available until 30th December 2022 at 8 pm local time for Trainers to purchase. Additionally, you can receive a ticket for the Timed Research as a Gift from friends, but you must have obtained a friendship level of Great Friends and higher to qualify.
Pokémon GO winter Wishes Timed Research Tasks & Rewards
Niantic has also confirmed another Timed Research, Winter Wishes, that will be available alongside the Winter Holiday Timed Research tasks. According to the developer, you can access branching Timed Research which grants various bonuses on catching, collecting, and hatching tasks.
Once you've completed the tasks, you can receive the corresponding rewards, including halved Hatching distance, double catching XP, or double catch Stardust, depending on which path is taken. Additionally, all Trainers can receive encounters with Galarian Mr. Mime and other Holiday-themed Pokémon.
