Scatterbug, Spewpa, and Vivillon are finally spreading their wings as they've been released into the wild but catching them may be harder than anticipated. This guide details how to catch and evolve Scatterbug to Spewpa and Vivillon in Pokémon GO.

How To Get Scatterbug In Pokémon GO?

With the arrival of Scatterbug and its Evolutionary line to Pokémon GO, Trainers can head out to locate and acquire the Bug-type Pokémon. If you're looking to add a Scatterbug to your Pokédex, this may be a little easier than getting a Vivillon pattern, as you can catch Scatterbug in one of two ways:

• Acquiring Postcards from Gifts collected from PokéStops and Gyms in various regions
• Collecting Postcards through Gifts sent directly to you by fellow Trainer friends

The next step is to pin these Postcards to your Postcard Book, which can be located in your Item Bag or the Trainer Profile. If you've received a Gift from a friend, you can pin the Postcard by viewing the Gift within their Trainer Profile and tapping the pin icon, keeping in mind not to open it.

Pinning Postcards from Gifts collected from PokéStops and Gyms can be done by locating the Gift from your Item Bag. Once you've found the Gift containing the Postcard, you can view it to pin it to your Postcard Book, which can be organized by the date received.

After obtaining enough Postcards from a specific region or habitat, navigate to the Vivillon Collector tab from the Medals page to earn an encounter with a wild Scatterbug. Within the menu, tap on the "Encounter" button, where you can try to catch a Scatterbug.

Three Postcards are required for the first encounter, and nine are needed for the second encounter. For the third and every other encounter after that, 15 Postcards are required to be rewarded with a Scatterbug encounter.

How To Evolve Scatterbug In Pokémon GO?

As complicated as it is to catch a Scatterbug, luckily, evolving it is pretty straightforward, but it does mean you'll need to have caught enough Scatterbug to earn Scatterbug Candy. This means you'll need to repeat the abovementioned process to catch as many Scatterbug to gain as much Candy as possible to evolve it.

According to a developer post from Niantic, Trainers will need 25 Scatterbug Candy when evolving it from Scatterbug to its next evolution, Spewpa. But evolving it from Spewpa to Vivillon requires 100 Scatterbug Candy to complete the evolution.

Once it's evolved to Vivillon, depending on the habitat you've acquired Scatterbug from, you'll add its corresponding Vivillon pattern. Currently, there are 20 known Vivillon patterns across multiple Pokémon games, for which 18 distinctive Vivillon patterns are available in Pokémon GO.
