Sony Interactive announced an exciting collaboration with leading toy company Spin Master to produce a new line of collectible figurines. The Shapes Collection, which features five figurines based on characters from notable PlayStation games, is now available for pre-order if available for their region or territory.
This was revealed in an official PlayStation Blog post on 3rd July 2024, in which Sony unveiled the first official looks of the figurines, including Aloy, Kratos and Atreus, Varl, and Jin Sakai. These "highly detailed" figurines aid in "extending the gaming experience from digital to physical" by drawing inspiration from the games in which the characters appear.
According to the official announcement post, these figurines all possess "interchangeable accessories and dozens of points of articulation to pose and display" within players' collections. The first figurine to be made available for pre-order is Aloy from the Horizon Forbidden series, which is now live on the PlayStation Gear site when available, as well as other approved retail outlets in selected regions and territories.
Guerrilla Games' Lead Character Artist, Arno Schmitz, explained that the figurines were produced from "the actual digital sculpts" used for the games. "A personal highlight was the ability to provide different facial expressions for Aloy, which, together with those many articulation points (even her hair has some!), make her a very poseable figure."
Shipping for the Aloy figurine will begin in August 2024, whereas the remaining figurines in the Shapes Collection will be shipped out in September 2024, as pre-orders go live on 15th July 2024. Sucker Punch Productions' Creative Director, Jason Connell, expressed his excitement for the inclusion of the Jin Sakai figurine in the collectible series while detailing the intention behind its design.
Jin's Ghost armor has so many beautiful details, including intricate fabric patterns and overlapping armor plates that are integral to the design of his character. In addition to his katana, it's also always important to us to see all of his various Ghost tools represented to capture his different fighting techniques.
