A fan favourite event each and every year, the annual Overwatch Winter Wonderland is back for the 2021 edition. Winter Wonderland always brings new holiday-themed content to the title in the form of game modes, skins, and other cosmetics.
After fans had been banging the drum endlessly for a special Christmas Orisa skin, it appears Blizzard Entertainment has finally delivered. The Winter Wonderland 2021 event officially went live on Thursday, 16th December, and is scheduled to run for the next few weeks.
Here's everything you need to know about the Overwatch Winter Wonderland event, now live featuring a Reindeer Orisa skin.
Winter Wonderland 2021 game modes - Overwatch
Going along with the chilly winter theme, the Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2021 event features four new game modes for players to enjoy. The different modes operate under different team sizes, ranging from 4v4 brawls to 8v8 free-for-alls.
Here are the four new game modes as part of Winter Wonderland 2021:
- Freezethaw Elimination - 4v4 brawl
Instead of dying, players will be frozen solid in blocks of ice that their teammates can thaw. Freeze everyone on the enemy team to secure a win. Earn new achievements and unlock unique sprays in this limited-time game mode.
- Mei's Snowball Offensive - 6v6 brawl
Everyone plays as Mei in this game mode. The endothermic blaster has been modified to fire a single, super-powered snowball. Taking down an enemy only requires one hit, but a miss can be costly.
- Snowball Deathmatch - 8v8 brawl
Players can store up to three lethal snowballs in Mei’s blaster, providing multiple chances to ice the competition before having to reload.
- Yeti Thunder - 6-player brawl
This 6-player brawl sets five Meis against one Yeti who uses Winston’s abilities. The Yeti must survive long enough to eliminate enemy Meis before they take him down.
Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2021 - skins
In addition to limited-time game modes, the Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2021 event also brings with it loads of new holiday-themed skins. These Winter Wonderland skins are only available for unlocking via the weekly challenges, so you won't need to spend any real money.
There are 48 skins total available for unlocking during the Winter Wonderland 2021 event, with eight of them coming as all-new drops. Here are the new skins as well as the other 40 available during the Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2021 event.
