Overwatch Collegiate Homecoming tournament: How to register, schedule, prize pool, more

Collegiate esports is a must-have for any and all growing esport scenes. Not only does it push the professional player base who is most likely around the college ages but also it exposes the mainstream to your title being played at the highest level under their own banner. 

Overwatch has understood this for a while and is already in full gear for their winter student event.

The group-based shooter is going guns blazing throwing big money up for grabs for one last hurrah before the end of the year and thankfully, we have answers to the fans’ questions.

From how and where to register to when it’ll all go down, here’s everything you need to know about Overwatch Collegiate Homecoming tournament.

Overwatch Collegiate Homecoming tournament schedule

The Overwatch Collegiate Homecoming tournament will run from 1st October to 4th December 2021.

Overwatch Collegiate Homecoming tournament format

The Overwatch Collegiate Homecoming tournament will hold five weeks of Swiss format, two days of groups stage and a Playoffs weekend. Full dates and timezones can be found here.

Swiss stage

• The Swiss stage will be played out over the course of five weeks. The top 32 teams will move on to the Group Stage.
• These matches are a First to Two.

Groups

• The Group Stage will be comprised of eight double-elimination brackets where the teams will compete to move on to the playoffs.
• The top 2 teams from each group will move on to the playoffs.
• These matches are a First to Two.

Playoffs

• The Playoffs will be a single-elimination where the teams will compete for tournament placement and prizing.
• Seeding is based on the National Swiss and Seeding mixer. 
• These matches are a First to Three.

Overwatch Collegiate Homecoming tournament prize pool

The Overwatch Collegiate Homecoming tournament has a total prize pool of $27,600 distributed as such:

6 Players are eligible to receive prizing. The prizing is listed below:

Playoff Placement Prize (per player)

• 1st Place $2,000.00 USD
• 2nd Place $1,000.00 USD
• 3rd ~ 4th Place $500.00 USD
• 5th ~ 8th Place $150.00 USD
