As 2024 comes to a close and we approach the final season of Overwatch 2, excitement builds not just for Season 14 but for the holiday season as well. With Christmas on the horizon, many players are wondering if we’ll be getting a Winter Wonderland event this year. So let’s look at the details and discuss what we know about a potential 2024 Winter Wonderland event in Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland 2024 Release Date?

Although Blizzard hasn’t confirmed the exact start date for this year’s Winter Wonderland event, the recent Season 14 trailer has confirmed its return. With Season 14, titled Hazard, launching on December 10, it’s likely that the Winter Wonderland event will kick off on the same day.

Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland 2024 Content and Features

While specifics for this year’s Winter Wonderland haven’t been revealed, it’s expected to follow a similar format to last year’s event. Four unique Arcade game modes are likely to make a return:

Winter Wonderland Arccade Modes
This year’s Winter Wonderland event brings back fan-favorite Arcade modes, including the beloved Mei’s Snowball Offensive. (Picture: Blizzard)
  • Mei’s Snowball Offensive: A tactical and chaotic mode where snowballs act as one-hit eliminations. Play solo in a free-for-all or 5v5 with teammates, using Ice Walls and Cryo-Freeze for survival and unleashing Mei’s Ultimate for a flurry of snowballs.
  • Yeti Hunt: A 5v1 PvP brawl where five Mei players must trap and neutralize a rampaging Yeti (Winston) before his primal frenzy takes them down.
  • Freeze-Thaw Elimination: A 5v5 freeze-tag mode where frozen teammates can be revived. The first team to completely freeze the opposition wins.

It’s unclear if the Winter Fair event pass, which offered holiday-themed rewards last year, will return or be replaced by a new rewards system. However, festive skins, cosmetics, and seasonal trinkets are guaranteed to be part of the event.

Stay tuned for full event details and patch notes when they’re released. In the meantime, check out the Season 14 trailer above and mark your calendars for December 10!
