With Season 14 of Overwatch 2 still going strong and leading us into 2025, fans have had more time to dive into the new content, especially the latest Tank hero, Hazard. As players spend more time testing out his abilities, many are starting to feel that Hazard might be broken - whether in ways that feel overpowered or unplayable. Let’s break down the details and explore why Hazard is being called broken in the current season of Overwatch 2.

Many players, myself included, were excited by Hazard's early playtest, and when he was officially released, fans praised his design and abilities. However, with the recent Avatar: The Last Airbender patch, issues have started to appear, and fans are now saying Hazard is "broken," with bugs affecting his abilities in both positive and negative ways.

Reddit user u/cookingcape8872 pointed out a major problem with Hazard’s wall: sometimes it doesn’t interact properly with surfaces. The wall can phase through solid objects like spawn doors, payloads, and gates that open and close based on the game state. This makes his wall unreliable at times.

Another frustrating bug is that the wall occasionally phases through shields. Ideally, the wall projectiles should bounce off shields like Sigma’s or Reinhardt’s, but instead, they pass right through, which is annoying for both the player using Hazard and those trying to defend against it. If you want the wall to appear in front of a shield, it’s frustrating when it phases through and creates a useless wall behind it.

Hazard wall bugs
While some aspects of Hazard's kit are buggy, his wall is the most egregious issue, often leading to game-breaking imbalances for both the Hazard player and the opposing team. (Picture: Blizzard)

Additionally, Hazard’s spike guard projectiles are bugged. Some of the hits just won’t register, as demonstrated by user u/name-exe_failed. This is especially problematic since the spike guard is Hazard’s main tool for applying pressure, particularly when diving.

There are also issues with Hazard's kit giving him an unfair advantage. For example, user u/MommysLilMisteak posted a clip where a Mei in her ice block was flung off the map due to an oddly placed Hazard wall. It wasn’t because she was near an edge; she was clipped out of the map entirely and instantly killed. Hazard’s wall has also been shown to one-tap Orisa even while in her Fortify form.

In the recent Korean Super Overwatch Cup, there was even a moment in a Hazard mirror match where one Hazard’s wall caused the other to glitch through the ground, falling into a building below. This kind of bug could easily break a match in pro play.

Hazard has some significant issues that need fixing, especially with his wall being so broken. The community is hoping Blizzard will step in and address these bugs. We’ll keep you updated on Hazard’s progress as we move into 2025, and hopefully, these bugs are just growing pains for a new hero. Hazard has great potential as a tank, and with the right adjustments, he could be a strong addition to the roster - sans the bugs.
