Pikmin 4 is currently leading the sales chart in Japan, as reported by Famitsu.
The same report states that all ten games in the top ten were Nintendo Switch titles, with the first week sales for Pikmin 4 actually being more than the combined sales of the first three Pikmin games. The sales chart reads as follows:
- Pikmin 4
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Natsumon! Summer Vacation In The 20th Century
- Minecraft
- Splatoon 3
- Nintendo Switch Sports
- Super Smash Bros Ultimate
- Mario Party Superstars
- Pokemon Scarlet/ Pokemon Violet
The reveal of how well the newest Pikmin game is doing in Japan likely comes as an extremely pleasant surprise to Pikmin fans that had to wait for years just to catch a brief glimpse of Pikmin 4, perhaps signaling that we can expect to see Pikmin 5 sooner rather than later. To see it selling better than The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is nothing short of incredible, although it could be argued that a lot of people who wanted to get their hands on the newest Zelda game more than likely already have, which is why the sales are slightly lower than Pikmin 4.
