Super Mario RPG will not be an Open World RPG, largely due to the fact that this is not a completely new game, but fairly faithful remake. The original game first launched back in 1996 so for those Nintendo fans who haven't been able to experience the game before, there's naturally a lot of excitement for its return. However, unlike say the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, this Super Mario RPG is not throwing out the formula that made the original title so popular. Whilst there are plenty of new features to keep fans engaged, it's still sticking to a more linear storytelling format when it launches on November 17.
So What's New in Super Mario RPG?
From what we can tell, Super Mario RPG will be somewhere between a Remake and a Remaster. The story from Super Mario RPG will be the exact same in this 2023 version of the game, but there are going to be some key differences that will change the way everyone plays the game.
For one, the battle system will be upgraded to make it more visually apparent when actions are done correctly and a new Power Guage will fill up and give players some random buffs during battle. Saving has also been reported to be a lot easier with an auto-save feature. That means no major setbacks should happen in Super Mario RPG.
Of course, we're sure there's a whole laundry list of changes and improvements, but as we mentioned, the game will not be introducing any open-world game mechanic.
