Each new update pushes the game forward, and now the Madden 24 Franchise Mode crossplay beta is giving a trial run to an exciting new feature. While many new features tend to be something they'll wait and unveil for the next game, this is definitely one that needs some player testing.
The news comes almost two months after word first arrived that crossplay would make the jump to Franchise Mode. Here's everything you need to know about how to participate in this Madden 24 beta and what risks there are for your Franchise Mode saves.
How to Play the Madden 24 Franchise Mode Crossplay Beta
While it initially launched as a Closed Beta specifically tied to players who already participated in the Madden 24 Closed Beta, this new feature is now live for everyone. All you need to do is install the latest Madden 24 update to gain access to crossplay in Franchise Mode.
As a reminder, Madden 24 crossplay is still exclusive to Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. As PS4 and Xbox One are missing key game features, crossplay likely won't ever be enabled between generations. Once you're updated, head to League Settings in Franchise Mode and choose to enable Crossplay. Technically, this live beta feature can be activated in any existing Online Franchise Mode save file.
However, EA Sports stated they "strongly recommend" you make a new Franchise file. If anything goes awry during the beta, which is very possible considering the goal is to sniff out bugs and glitches they haven't been able to locate during their own testing, the feature could be temporarily disabled. If that happens, it may impact your access to any save file with crossplay enabled.
Particularly for players who are diving in that already have existing online Franchise Mode leagues, any attempts to bring someone in to try out crossplay during this live beta are best done with a new save file.
Will Madden 25 have crossplay in Franchise Mode?
While they've stopped short of confirming this, that absolutely seems to be the case barring major issues with the rollout of this beta. Madden 25 is going to be one of the biggest releases for the franchise in years, and it'll likely be landing soon after EA Sports College Football arrives.
At this stage, they're probably finalizing plans on which features will make it by the Madden 25 release date and which ones will have to wait for a post-launch update or the inevitable Madden 26 release. If they choose to have one, the Madden 25 beta will probably happen sometime in July 2024 ahead of an August 2024 release window and should indicate whether crossplay remains in the next installment.
