Twitch streamer Tyler "Tyler1" Steinkamp received high honour this week after achieving Challenger rank in all five roles of League of Legends, an accolade formerly only achieved by ex-Astralis mid-laner Felix "MagiFelix" Boström.
Riot Games later praised Tyler1, writing, "There's a thin line between passion and tilt. Congrats on staying more focused and walking it right into being the second ever 5-role Challenger." Followingly the developer hinted that they sent him a customised gift to commemorate his achievement.
Tyler1 shows off custom medallions after hitting Challenger in all roles
On 23rd February, Tyler1 unveiled Riot's gift to his Twitch viewers. Before unboxing the package, Tyler said that Riot sent him the package the same day he achieved Challenger in Support.
"That means they were sitting on it, knowing that I was about to get five-role Challenger. So they already knew, as did everybody else, [that] I'm the GOAT. The five-role Challenger Greatest Of All Time," Tyler1 said.
Notably, the iconic streamer had unreasonably high expectations for what was in the package. Before opening the box, Tyler1 said he hopes to find a $5 billion check "for consistently playing this dogsh*t game," a contract to run Riot Games, a statue exemplifying his "sheer size and swagger," a key to a new Lamborghini, and clothes.
However, despite not receiving what he hoped for, he was pleased to find instead a wall mount housing five Challenger medallions, one for each role, with the ranking date inscribed onto it. The mount can also light up when plugged into an electric outlet, showcasing Tyler1's achievements in style.
After unboxing the gift, Tyler1 instinctively put all medallions around his neck and later instructed Riot to clip what he was about to say, adding that he will probably never repeat it. "I appreciate it. Thank you, guys. But, I am the goddamn greatest of all time," Tyler1 said.
It's clear from his reaction that Tyler1 was ecstatic about his gift, and rightfully so. After all, he did earn it. Besides the gift, Riot Games also sent him a long letter, which he read to his viewers.
"Congratulations on hitting Challenger on all five roles live on Twitch. It's an achievement on a whole new level and proves once and for all that you are truly built differently. To celebrate this moment, we worked with artist "Cool Props" to make you these one-of-a-kind custom Challenger medals," the letter read.
Tyler1 continued to read the letter, which also poked fun at one of his permabanned accounts but later recognised his profound impact on the League of Legends community.
