When Indiana Jones and the Great Circle brings our beloved hero to the Vatican, the search for the stolen Cat Mummy takes many twists and turns. After you've gathered photographs of all four inscriptions and spoken to Antonio, the quest points Indy towards the the Tower of Nicholas V in the hunt for the Underworld Gate. It may not be too difficult to first enter this area, but it'll take discovering several different clues to solve the Sacred Wounds Puzzle and continue this Indiana Jones and the Great Circle mission.

After players have arrived at the Tower of Nicholas V, the blessed bottle of wine now working as the blood of Christ needs to be poured in one bowl to pop open the Underworld Gate and begin your journey into the depths. When Indiana Jones finally reaches a large room with a mural of the crucifixion on the center wall, pouring out the blood of Christ once again will begin the Sacred Wounds puzzle.

There are five different levers, one for each of the wounds in this depiction of Christ. In order to solve this puzzle, you'll need to find other pieces of art with bowls which indicate whether each lever should be set at I, II, III, or IV. The first two are easy to find and just to the left or right of this main mural. For clarity, some directions would be flipped here if imagining the mural from the perspective of Christ, but the usage of left and right for all of these clues will be which side of the mural it is on when you're facing it.

Look to the left of the crucifixion to spot a large statue that can be picked up and dropped somewhere else on the ground. This gives you access to a new bowl in front of the Holy Chalice mural, and pouring the wine in it will reveal the number II which will correspond to the lever for the right-side hand wound.

Before you move on to another step in this puzzle, make sure to pull our your camera. All of these murals, including the primary Sacred Wounds Mural, are three-star photo opportunities that will net you 25 Adventure Points each.

Next, look to the right of the Sacred Wounds Mural to find the Walking on Water Mural. Pour the wine, and this bowl reveals the number III which corresponds to the left-side foot wound. Look a bit to the right once again, and this side wall will include a gate you can't get through.

Fortunately, there's a large crack in the wall to the right of that gate which Indy can squeeze through. Once in this room, pour the wine in front of the Anointment of Jesus Mural to reveal the number IV which corresponds to the right-side foot wound lever.

Lastly, there are two final clues to find and a bit of a trap waiting for you. Don't worry, there's no avoiding the trap and you'll have a way out pretty quickly.

When you enter the open gated room to the left-hand side of the Sacred Wounds Mural, a pressure plate in the floor will slam the gate shut behind you. The mural in front of you in this locked room is the Body of Christ, and pouring wine in it will reveal the number II which corresponds to the left-side hand wound lever.

There's an open tunnel path to the left of this mural, and in the next room you'll find a Spear of Longinus statue. Taking a picture of it will cause Indy to reveal the extra clue here as Longinus is "the soldier who pierced the side of Jesus with a holy lance."

Pour the wine to reveal the number III which will correspond to the midsection wound lever. Lastly, pick up the weapon leaned against the brick wall to the left of this statue and take a swing to knock down the entire section of wall.

You can now return to the Sacred Wounds Mural and get all the levers in place. With all the clues, it's now revealed the levers go as follows:

  • Right-Side Hand Wound: II
  • Left-Side Foot Wound: III
  • Right-Side Foot Wound: IV
  • Left-Side Hand Wound: II
  • Midsection Wound: III

Get all the levers into position, and the Sacred Wounds puzzle will be officially solved. This mural will separate and the entire piece of wall will rotate to open a pathway behind the mural. Your next task is to find the Warrior Giant's Tomb, and the plot will continue to thicken as you seek out the Cat Mummy that started this all in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
