The next major content update for GTA Online has dropped, known as the 'Chop Shop' update adding new vehicles, a salvage yard business, and plenty more new content to improve the game. However, as with any update, we know Rockstar will add a batch of new mission content to dig into. If this is your first time playing the game, you might be wondering how to start this new slice of 'Chop Shop' story content. Well, read on for everything you need to know.
How To Start The 'Chop Shop Update' Missions In GTA Online
Assuming you've downloaded the latest GTA Online update, players need to first wait for a phone call from the illustrious Liberty City real estate developer - and formed GTA 4 Character - Yusuf Amir, before they can start the Chop Shop DLC.
The phone call should read a bit like this:
"At last! I got you! You Know, you are a very hard person to reach! But then, so is Yusuf Amir, so this is a very special occasion. A meeting of titans! Now, let me open the kimono and show you my business. I want you to invest. In a partnership. There is a chain of salvage yards going into administration. Buy one of them, and it will be the start of something very profitable. Well, come on. What more do you need to know? Let's pull the trigger! Come on, baby! Lets Hustle! Lets Grind! Let's make some paper! I'll be in touch."
After the phone call players will need to head to the Maze Bank Foreclosures website to purchase one of the new Salvage Yard's (there are five locations to choose from).
What do you do after you buy the Salvage Yard
Once you've made your purchase Yusuf Amir will call you again, saying:
"Oh, news travels fast my friend! Almost as fast... as money! Ha! This was a new level investment, I promise you! 4D Chess! I'll meet you there! You don't mind if i let myself in? Ay, good!"
Next, head to the Salvage Yard you've purchased, but be careful, as you'll be ambushed by gang members who you'll need to take out first. Once you've finished the gang attack you should be able to enter your new business, prompting a cutscene and your first meeting with Yusaf. From here, the nature of the business will be explained to you. From what we can tell, the new DLC hasn't added missions, as much as a new weekly 'car heist' robbery you can undertake.
For instance, for the first week, we were shown car heists for a BF Weevil, a Bravado Gauntlet Hellfire, and a Grotti Turismo Omaggio. We imagine there's a different 'car heist' for several of the new cars added to the game, but each will seemingly require:
- A scope-out mission
- A planning mission
- The eventual car heist
How Much Does It Cost To Start GTA Online Chop Shop Missions
It's not cheap, put it that way. To begin playing the Chop Shop missions you'll first need to purchase the Salvage yard, which costs at least $1,620,000 if you opt for the cheapest location available. But do note, that a fully-upgraded Salvage Yard will set you back 5.5 million.
