While anticipation was certainly high for Travis Scott’s Astronomical event in Fortnite after Marshmello’s previous DJ set last year, nobody perhaps expected this spectacle.
The first of many planned showings of the event happened on Thursday 23rd April, with Fortnite players congregating around a wheel northwards of Sweaty Sands with a countdown timer.
The event kicked off with a meteor spaceship, which was seen prior to the event, flying down to the map and open the stage - where a blinding flash beams a giant version of Travis Scott’s newly released Fortnite skin onto the map.

This pre-recorded performance of the rapper performed a number of tracks, including a brand new song with Kid Cudi, all while a sequence of sublime special effects popped up around as the giant figure teleported around the map.
At one point, the whole map was illuminated in red as lightning crashed down from the sky, while another point saw a rollercoaster weave through the ground.
Using the leaked underwater swimming mechanics revealed beforehand, the concert then plunged players underwater, with Travis surrounded by giant jellyfish.
After another explosion, players were then thrown into a beam of light which threw them back onto the Fortnite map - marking the end of the event.

This isn’t the last time the event takes place either, which is scheduled for various times across the next several days, ending on Saturday 26th April.
