Gonna Need Milk

With the first-ever Milk Cup having taken place this October, tournament organizers Gonna Need Milk have plenty to take stock of. For one, the entire tournament became one of the most watched women’s esports events in North American esports history, accumulating  2.4 million stream views.

The event also offered the biggest prize pool ever seen for women's esports in North America, with $250,000 up for grabs. It was Team Moxie who took home the trophy at L.A. Comic Con, a team consisting of players MoxieRegsita, and Dieyuhs. After battling against 32 other teams, and securing three of the six victory royales to win their crown, the team will no doubt be looking ahead to the next tournament. Thankfully, it seems that won't be too far away.

Gonna Need Milk Announced The Milk Cup Winter Split for 2024

Gonna Need Milk have announced The Milk Cup Winter Split for later this year, giving women Fortnite players another avenue for glory. The set-up this time around will be a little different. While not as big and in-person as the The Milk Cup, it allows players to strike while the iron is hot and continue competing with a tournament before the year is up.

The Milk Cup Winter Split Format

  • Playlist: Duos
  • Mode: Zero Build
  • Prize Pool: $50,000
  • Format: Online

The Winter Split will be a Duos tournament, meaning we'll be seeing some shake-ups of the talented trios from The Milk Cup final. We'll also see a switch to Zero Build, which opens up more access to players with raw FPS skill and who might not be as confident when it comes to building.

This tournament will also be online and will take place across three events.

The Winter Split will have two qualifiers and a final, which will take place on the following dates:

  • Qualifier 1: November 12, 2024 at 7 PM EST
  • Qualifier 2: December 9, 2024 at 7 PM EST
  • Finals: December 16, 2024 at 7 PM EST

Qualifier 1 will kick off on November 12 as an open qualifier, before things are whittled down in the closed Qualifier 2 on December 9. The finals will take place on December 16, 2024. The first qualifier was originally set to take place on November 13, however the date had been shifted so as not to clash with the Fortnite Cash Cup from Epic Games, allowing players to be able to participate in both.

A spokesperson for The Milk Cup said, "We want to make sure that The Milk Cup continues to uphold its mission to uplift women in gaming and want to make sure that our players have every opportunity to compete.”
