The Best Controller Players in Fortnite

Controller players in Fortnite are some of the best players in the world - find out who gets in our top 5, what makes them so good, and what controller they use when they're stomping through lobbies!
The Best Controller Players in Fortnite

There are very few games in the world where controller players can compete with keyboard and mouse at the highest level.

Fortnite is one game where they can, with players like Unknownxarmy qualifying for the Fortnite World Cup and regularly ranking in the top 10 players in the NAE Region.

And while some people may feel that aim assist on controllers is too strong, others see it as nessecery evil to match the increased precision and speed offered by a keyboard and mouse.

Wherever you stand on that debate controller players are out there dominating - able to rotate, build and kill as good as anyone in the world.

So whether you are a controller player yourself, or simply want to know who to hate - here are the best controller players in Fortnite.

1) Dominic “UnknownxArmy” Green (NAE) - Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2

Undoubtedly the best controller player in the world UnknownxArmy has been dominating competitive Fortnite competitive since bursting onto the scene during the Fortnite World Cup qualifiers.

He twice qualified for the $30,000,000 tournament, a feat unmatched by any other controller player. Coming in 69th place in the showpiece event wasn’t as well as he would have hoped but considering it was his first major tournament it was a decent showing.

Since then his star has only risen - winning a record 6 Solo Cash Cups in the NAE Region and coming 1st with his squad in the Fortnite Champion Series: Chapter 2: Season 1 Grand Finals.

Part of his success comes down to his playstyle. He is known to “W” key anyone this coupled with his insane box fighting makes him the best 1v1 player in the game.

And if you think he can only do it because of the aim-assist on the controller then think again. Back in December he dropped the controller and switched to KBM for a Cash Cup to prove the doubters wrong - he came 5th - showing that no matter what input method Unknown is using this kid can slay.

2) Jaden “Wolfiez” Ashman (EU) - Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2

The only player who could realistically claim to be better than UnknownxArmy on a controller would be England’s Wolfiez.

He qualified for the Fortnite World Cup Duos alongside his teammate Rojo - it was here that he surprised everyone by finishing in 2nd(!) netting him $1,125,000. A placement that few thought a controller player could ever realistically achieve.

He followed that with a strong showing in the FN Champion Series: Chapter 2: Season 1 Grand Finals, with his squad of Mongraal, Benjyfishy, and Nayte coming in 2nd.

His strengths lie in his clean edits and superior game sense and any suggestion he needs the help of teammates to place high are rubbished by his Cash Cups wins. He has won two as a Solo player, with the most recent one being in January.

3) Chris “crr” Williams (EU) -  PS4 Elite Controller

Crr may not be the most well-known player on this list. Still, after a string of strong performances in the Fortnite Champion Series: Chapter 2: Season 1 and Winter Royale 2019, he has solidified himself as one of the best controller players in the world.

His intelligent gameplay and his ability to slay out mean that many KBM players have recruited them into their teams and he is at his best when part of a duo or squad and can frequently be seen playing with FaZe’s Mitr0, K1nzell, and Falconly.

Mitr0 is his long term duo partner and if their performances in the Winter Royale 2019 are anything to go by expect to see a lot more of crr in the future.

4) Kevin “Letshe” Fedjuschkin (EU) - Xbox One Elite Wireless

If Letshe did nothing else but place 39th in Solos at the Fortnite World Cup, he would still make this list, but the Team Atlantis man has done so much more than that.

He is a frequent sight at the top of competitive leaderboards and regularly teams up with a guy who sits two above him on this list - Wolfiez - but it’s his performances as a solo player that make him stand out.

A 3rd place at the DreamHack Winter 2019 LAN and another in Week 9 of the Chapter 2 Season 1 Cash Cup - show that when he goes it alone, he can mix it with the best.

Known for his insane building and clean edits Letshe is a player we will be seeing at the top of the game for a long time yet.

5) Ghost Aydan (NAW) - SCUF Gaming Infinity Pro 4PS

Ghost Aydan hasn’t quite hit the heights of the other players on this list in recent times, but few have made as significant an impact on the way they controller players are seen in the game, and for that reason alone he makes the list.

A bit of background is nessecery - when Fortnite came out, and cross-platform play was enabled KBM players rubbished the idea that controller players could ever possibly compete with the best in the world.

But as the popularity of the game exploded, Epic Games wanted to give controller players the chance to compete with the best and with the introduction of Combat Pro and Legacy settings - controller players ability to build, edit and shoot as good as KBM players became a reality.

It was was during this time that Aydan made his name. His appearances in the Fortnite Summer Skirmish and Fall Skirmishes were electrifying, taking on and stomping players that previously had laughed at the very idea of a controller player competing.

Appearances at the Fortnite World Cup, where he placed 37th, proved to everyone that controller players were here to stay.

And while other controllers have surpassed him, that doesn’t mean he can’t still compete with the best. He recently placed 2nd in the Week 10 of Contender Solo Cash Cup: Chapter 2 Season 1 - showing there is still life in the controller OG yet.
