While you can go as far as creating any player from scratch to drop on any roster in Madden, things are quite as simple for College Football 25. A messy web of NIL rules and technicalities have led to certain customization options being restricted or difficult to locate, but there is a path similar to creating a player inside Dynasty Mode. If you're trying to give a personal touch to your game, we'll go over exactly what you can and can't customize about players in College Football 25.
Can you create a player in College Football 25?
As of now, the only full player creation method in College Football 25 is tied into Road to Glory. You can create a player with any name or appearance across the mode's five different positions, and there will even be an option to upload them after graduation to be used in Madden 25 later this year. However, that's where creating a player ends.
If you're looking for the basic Create A Player feature seen in Madden which allows you to make someone with full customization then drop them on any of the 32 NFL team rosters, it can't be found in College Football 25. On top of that, the only thing you can edit about any player built into the game on an existing roster is their gear style. With new NIL rules helping pave the way for the game to return, it's likely those same rules and the structure of the deals signed by real-world players are the reason they're locked and cannot be edited.
However, there are a few ways you can customize your players in College Football 25. If you want to use the Team Builder website to create a custom team, you will have the option to edit several aspects of that team's starting roster. When setting up the new custom team in Team Builder, you can edit every player's appearance, height, weight, number, year, handedness, and all their individual skill ratings.
However, you cannot edit their name, and this is likely to prevent anyone from building a team featuring real-world players who did not agree to have their likeness or name in the game. Similarly, you do actually gain some editing options once you're a bit deeper into Dynasty Mode. While all the existing roster members when the mode begins can't be changed, any player signed via recruiting in a subsequent year will have some customization options.
Anyone on your roster who was created by the recruiting system can have their name, position, handedness, height, weight, arm size, rear size, thigh size, and gear changed. Go to your roster in Dynasty, find the player you want to change and open up their Player Card, and finally the farthest right tab has an Edit Player option.
You cannot, however, edit their appearance in any other way. This means there is literally no way to change a player in College Football 25 outside of Road to Glory that allows control of both appearance and name, and this prevents anyone from adding the name, image, and likeness of any player that didn't sign an NIL deal to be included in the game.
