Alliance and Team Liquid are the two European Dota teams to qualify for the MDL Chengdu Major through the Closed Qualifier this week.
The two teams faced each other in the Upper Bracket Finals with Alliance getting the upper hand and qualifying 2-1 in a huge win for the players and organisation as a whole. Team Liquid consists of the former Alliance roster that chose to leave the Swedish organisation two weeks ago, with Alliance putting together a new roster just one week ago that many doubted would live up to the reputation of the old lineup.

As the first team qualified for the MDL Chengdu Major, Alliance were able to get revenge while setting themselves up for the $1,000,000 event with precious Dota Pro Circuit Points on the line. Team Liquid were able to spare themselves the embarassment of elimination as they managed to defeat Ninjas in Pyjamas 2-0 to take the second Major spot for Europe.

Team Secret and PSG.LGD will both miss the first Major of the DPC 2019/20 circuit due to needing a break after an intense TI9 run and medical issues for players respectively. These absences give all teams at the Major an opportunity to earn points without them nor TI9 champions OG in the way of a deep tournament finish.
Joining Alliance and Liquid from the regional qualifiers will be Southeast Asia's TNC Predator and Team Adroit, North America's trio of team Evil Geniuses, Fighting Pepegas and J.Storm and South American beastcoast and Team Unknown. Gambit Esports and Positive Guys were the two teams to make it from CIS while China had three spots that went to Vici Gaming, Team Aster and EHOME.
A final team will round off the sixteen team tourney from DOTA Summit 11, as the Minor event automatically qualifies the winners the last spot in Chengdu. Victory in Los Angeles will also give $72,000 and a modest 140 Points to kick off the new 2019/20 Circuit.
The MDL Chengdu Major will be played November 16-24th in Chengdu, China and there is a total of $1,000,000 in prize money and 15,000 in Pro Circuit Points on the line, with the lion's share of $300,000 and 4,850 Points going to the winning team.
