Dishonored 3 Release Date Speculation
At the time of writing, there is no official confirmed release date for Dishonored 3, but in this article, you’ll find all (if any) information that the developer shared, as well as some speculation from Ginx on when we could see it launch.
Based on what we know about Arkane Studios' activities at the moment, it's possible Dishonored 3 hasn't even begun development yet. Especially with Deathloop, a PlayStation 5 and Windows exclusive, taking up a lot of Arkane Studios' time.
At the time of writing, there is no official Dishonored 3 release date. It's nearly impossible to speculate how long we might have to wait for a third installment in the series without knowing whether Dishonored 3 is in development. So for all we know right now, the game is still a long way off, but at the very least, we can expect an "in development" announcement in the next 2 years.
Another factor that is impacted by the lack of an estimated release date is the platform. Although we expect Dishonored 3 to launch on Xbox platforms and PC due to Microsoft's recent acquisition of Bethesda, this is just an assumption.
Dishonored 3 Details?
As it currently stands, no supported leaks are available that allude to a possible Dishonored 3 title. But this hasn't stopped fans from speculating on what the game would be about and what we can expect to see from the sequel.
Fans are sure that the speculated Dishonored 3 game will not have anything to do with the previous two games and will feature a new story arc.
Dishonored 3 Story & Characters
Based on the statement from Arkane Studio’s Co-Creative Director Dinga Bakaba, when speaking to IGN Middle East, said that any future entries would likely focus on a new story arc and new characters, with the Kaldwin storyline essentially ‘complete’.
As directly quoted from Bakaba, “It’s something where we had a story to tell about the Kaldwins and the Outsider, and that story is over.” He also said, “Whatever happens, that Dishonored is complete. This is the best and the most honest answer we can give, but, in any case, I don’t think we will be revisiting that [the Kaldwin storyline]. Some other people might have thought differently, you know, but that was a creative choice not to revisit that part of the Dishonored world.”
So for now, we can say that if Dishonored returns, we're in for a brand new story, characters, and possibly, a new fresh creative direction for the abilities and gameplay.
Dishonored Connected to Deathloop?
Deathloop's director, Dinga Bakaba, has confirmed that Dishonored and Deathloop form part of the same universe. Deathloop, according to Dinga Bakaba, takes place in "one of the futures" long after the events of the last Dishonored title, Death of the Outsider.
This information was revealed during an Xbox Podcast, which you can watch below.
Speaking about Deathloop, Dinga Bakaba further revealed that: "There are a lot of clues in the game, actually," and continued by stating, "There are some that are abused. One of them is really spoiler-y, so voila. But there are a lot of small things, and some that were under people's noses all the time, but people are just figuring out."
As mentioned before, all we can do is speculate about Dishonored 3 until Arkane gives us more information, so be sure to check back here frequently as we update this listing with new and official details.
