In the Lightfall expansion, Bungie is overhauling many aspects of Destiny 2. It includes build crafting, resource management, social systems, and more.
Now, in its latest blog update, the studio has highlighted another massive change coming to Destiny 2 Lightfall. It's in regarding weapon crafting. As you may know, acquiring patterns and crafting weapons was an integral part of the gameplay in year 5 of Destiny 2.
In the Lightfall era, Bungie wants to shift a part of the focus away from weapon crafting and divert it back to dropped weapons which are going to become important again. Without further ado, here's everything we know about weapon crafting in Destiny 2 Lightfall.
Weapon crafting changes coming in Destiny 2 Lightfall
Firstly, Bungie is reducing the number of weapons that will be craftable in Lightfall. If and when a deepsight weapon drops, you will know that it's an important and valuable one worthy of crafting.
As for the non-craftable weapons, Bungie plans to make them more significant by adding the option to enhance them. In Year 6 of Destiny 2, some non-craftable weapons, starting from raid adept weapons in Season of the Deep, will have the option to be enhanced.
The enhanced non-craftable weapons can be leveled up and will get access to enhanced perks and enhanced intrinsic properties, similar to craftable weapons. However, you will only be able to enhance the perks that are already available.
Bungie believes that with weapon enhancement, non-craftable weapons will be able to become as powerful as crafted weapons. The studio plans to add weapon enhancement to most of the upcoming non-craftable weapons, though we don't know when that could happen.
Weapon crafting will still remain an important part of the gameplay loop. It's why Bungie is also adding a mechanic to activate deepsight on any craftable weapons you do not have the pattern for. As of this writing, we don't know anything about the mechanism.
And that's all the weapon crafting changes we currently know are coming to Destiny 2 in the Lightfall expansion.
