We're slowly edging closer to the release of Destiny 2 Lightfall next year, and whilst Season 18 has been relatively light on teasers, Season 19 will most probably give us a big slab of foreshadowing.

There's a new 'This Week At Bungie' blog post out, and the big news is confirmation of a new PvP multiplayer map launching with Lightfall:
"For the coming year, we are going to be bringing back two more maps from earlier in Destiny 2, and we’ve just started production on a brand-new map which we expect to be released in the year of Lightfall."
In addition, Bungie also outlined one future change to Crucible which would see engram focusing include older weapons and armor sets:
"We’re introducing a new Crucible Seal and bringing engram focusing to Lord Shaxx to give players more ways to engage with Crucible rewards. In Lightfall, we’ll be expanding engram focusing to include older weapons and armor sets across Crucible, Iron Banner, Trials, and more. "
Destiny 2 Lightfall story
In the Lightfall expansion, you will fight against The Witness and his disciple Calus. Calus has been gathering an army of Cabals known as Shadow Legion that has taken over the futuristic city of Neomuna, set on the planet Neptune.
The Shadow Legion is harnessing a mysterious new power called Suppression, and it's your job, alongside other Guardians and Cloudstrides (a new friendly faction), to fight Calus and protect Neomuna.
Here's what Bungie's official website has to say about Destiny 2 Lightfall -
"Shattered glass glints in the starlight. Soldiers of the Shadow Legion battle with Guardians under the unmistakable shadows of the fleet overhead - the Witness and its newest Disciple are here. Amid the chaos, begin a journey that will reveal the hidden threads that bind us, the ability to unravel them, and the mastery to weave them anew. With this new power in hand, find strength in your fellow Guardians and triumph in the face of impossibility; Legendary mode returns."
Destiny 2 Lightfall New Subclass - Strand
Destiny 2 Lightfall introduces a new subclass called Strand. This will be the game's fifth subclass, and you can switch between Arc, Solar, Stasis, Strand, and Void, at any time, granted you unlock them first.
Strand has a green-colored UI and adds unique new super abilities for every subclass. Hunters are Threadrunners, running around with a whip. Titans wield a giant claw and are called Tyrants. Warlocks unleash strand missiles and are called Architects.
Destiny 2 Lightfall New QoL - LFG, Player Commendation System & Guardian Ranks
Destiny 2 is many things, but it's not the most accessible live-service game on the market, especially for new players.
Bungie plans to remove some of the issues that new players consistently experience in Destiny 2 by adding a LFG (Looking For Group) feature in the Lightfall expansion.
Destiny 2 has had several third-party LFG applications, but having one in the game would make a significant difference if done right. As the name suggests, the LFG feature will allow you to look for other players in the game for the activities you want to play.
Destiny 2 Lightfall will also add a Player Commendation System to the game. This would allow you to rate and commend other players you interacted with at the end of every in-game activity.
The Commendation categories as of this writing are Ally, Fun, Mastery, and Leadership. This could change by launch.
You can rate other players with any of these, and they could do the same for you. The commendations will appear on your profile, so ensure you're not being toxic to other players.
Destiny 2 Lightfall will also come with a Glory Rank system that allows similarly experienced or leveled players to find, interact, and team up.
At launch, there will be 11 levels in this Glory Rank system, with the highest level having the title of the "Paragon."
The Glory Rank system is a way to make Destiny 2 more accessible and interactable to everyone - new and veteran players.
