Bungie has announced a Destiny 2 Showcase for 23rd August 2022 to reveal the future of the popular live-service game. The announcement comes rather unexpectedly from Destiny 2's official Twitter handle, followed by a fifty second long teaser.
Interestingly, this upcoming Destiny 2 showcase takes place on the day the ongoing Season of the Haunted ends. While Bungie has yet to reveal the content of this showcase, here's what fans should expect to see.
Destiny 2 Season 18 Reveal
Bungie held back until the last moment to reveal Season of the Haunted, and it could do the same for the upcoming Season 18. If so, fans could expect a Season 18 info dump at this upcoming Destiny 2 showcase, stuff like the new seasonal activity, new gear, new raid, and more.

Ever since The Witch Queen, Bungie has been consistently overhauling Destiny 2's various subclasses. We have already gotten Void 3.0 and Solar 3.0 updates, and Arc 3.0 is next in line.
Recent rumors suggest that Arc 3.0 update will be part of Season 18 though Bungie has yet to confirm the same. If that is indeed true, fans should expect a deep dive into Arc 3.0's new skills, aspects, and fragments at this showcase.
Destiny 2 Lightfall Expansion Reveal
First announced in 2020, Bungie's next expansion, Lightfall, has been a long time coming. The teaser trailer sets the stage for what's to come by putting a spotlight on The Witness, the enemy revealed at the end of The Witch Queen's campaign.

Lightfall won't be released until 2023, so fans shouldn't expect an extensive reveal. It could be a CGI trailer similar to what we got for The Witch Queen last August, revealing the location, the new antagonist, and some of the new gear. However, we still don't have any info on Destiny 2's Season 19, which will serve as the bridge for the Lightfall expansion.
Since Lightfall's reveal could come two seasons ahead, it's possible that Bungie may also take this opportunity to shed some light on whatever it's planning for Season 19, and how it would connect to the Lightfall expansion. That's everything you should expect from Destiny 2's upcoming showcase.
