Frank encounters Ross Folk, and his girlfriend Tonya Waters, on September 20 in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. He's part of the Lovers scoop which activates at 7am. The pair can be found hiding in a shoe shop in Wonderland Plaza. Ross is on the floor having sustained some serious injuries and Tonya is panicking next to him.
Speaking with the two will reveal that Ross has resigned himself to succumbing to his wounds, and asks Frank to get Tonya to safety. Tonya, however, refuses to leave Ross' side, but speaking with him again reveals that he wants Frank to give him a handgun so that he can end things himself.
What Happens if You Give Ross a Handgun in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster?
The game seems to push you into the direction of giving Ross a handgun, especially since they're so readily available around the mall. However, if you do give him the handgun, Ross will kill himself right there. This not only makes Ross impossible to save, but also Tonya, who will be overcome with grief and will refuse to go to the Safe Room with Frank.
So, what should you do instead?
How to Save Ross and Tonya in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster
Instead of giving Ross a handgun, keep talking to Tonya. Eventually, you'll be able to convince them both to head to the Safe Room with Frank. This is how you save both Ross and Tonya.
Ross will be unable to walk by himself, and Frank will have to support him. You can give Tonya a weapon to defend herself somewhat, though you're still better off taking as shorter route as possible back to the Safe Room.
Unlocking the Wonderland Plaza Shortcut
As with any Survivor found in Wonderland Plaza, you'll want to have unlocked the short cut. This is done on the first night, by defeating Adam the clown and stopping the Space Rider with the ID Card he drops. As the ride comes to a stop, Greg will appear having been trapped on the ride by Adam. He'll escort Frank to a shortcut in the Wonderland Plaza women's bathroom which will lead straight into Paradise Plaza.
With the shortcut unlocked, saving any Survivor in Wonderland Plaza (including Ross and Tonya) is far easier and quicker than cutting across Leisure Park.
