Traversing the map of DayZ can be perilous for most players, but luckily there are ways to make it easier. One way is to hide from the sight of enemy players by using the Ghillie suit, which makes it hard to see when hidden in forests or tall grass.
If you're looking to get your hands on one, then keep reading. Below you'll find a step-by-step guide on how to craft a Ghillie suit in DayZ. We'll also highlight some of the suit's flaws and strengths, giving you enough information to decide if it's for you.

How To Craft a Ghillie Suit
The Ghillie Suit is incredibly useful as it makes you almost invisible when in dense forests or tall grass. While you can pillage one from the corpse of a fallen survivor, in most cases you'll craft your own.
To get started, you'll need the right resources to craft the Ghillie suit. You're going to need x14 Burlap Strips and x4 Netting.
The Burlap Strips can be found by cutting a Burlap Sack with an Improvised Knife or another sharp object, but this can take some time. Once you have the resources, you can begin crafting the Ghillie suit.
Ghillie Suit Recipe
First, open up your inventory and find the Burlap Strips. Then drag them over the Netting to combine them and then select the option to craft the Ghillie suit in the drop-down menu. Each piece can be crafted individually as shown below:
- Ghillie Top - 6 Burlap Strips and 3 Netting (Covers upper body, but legs are still visible.)
- Ghillie Bushrag - 4 Burlap Strips and 2 Netting (Covers shoulders, but you can't wear a backpack)
- Ghillie Hood - 2 Burlap Strips and 1 Netting (Covers your head, but your body will still be visible)
- Ghillie Gun Wrap - 2 Burlap Strips and 1 Netting (Your body will still be visible)
As you can see from the above description, using certain parts of the Ghillie suit prevent you from carrying a backpack, so consider this if you plan on using it in close-quarter combat. It's also rendered useless by hackers and scripters who will be able to spot you instantly.
Overall, the Ghillie suit is great for a more tactical approach to battle or scouting areas, but remember its drawbacks to avoid getting caught out. But for now, that's everything you'll need to know to create the Ghillie suit in DayZ.
