At this point, many of us have resigned ourselves to the fact that a Bloodborne PC port or remaster may never happen. Those who haven’t given up have likely tempered their expectations to avoid disappointment. However, in the back of our minds, we've clung to the hope that the game could at least be emulated on PC, with modders making it a reality.

Of course, this has taken some time, as these modders are being paid to create an emulation for Bloodborne on PC. However, they've recently made significant progress, and playing Bloodborne on PC could soon be possible. Let’s dive into the details of the first major steps the modding community has taken to bring Bloodborne to PC.

Bloodborne Now Running on PC Thanks to Modders (But It's Still Far from Fully Playable)

A recent video by a prominent Soulsborne modder known as Fromsoftserve showcases their success in getting Bloodborne to run on a desktop PC using a PlayStation 4 emulator. While the footage is particularly impressive—the emulation is slow, with excessive motion blur and frame skipping that makes the game nearly unplayable—it’s still a significant achievement.

If you've ever used an emulator before, you're likely familiar with these kinds of issues in certain games. Over time, modders work out these kinks and eventually deliver a playable experience. This makes the progress exciting, as just getting the game to run at all is a huge milestone. As the modder put it,Some people might see this and think it’s not impressive, but we’re rendering actual frames of Bloodborne, adding,The fact that we’re in-game, rendering the graphics in real-time, that’s massive.”

Fromsoftserve also mentioned that a fully playable port could be ready by next year, which is plausible given that it took roughly the same amount of time for Demon’s Souls to be ported to an emulator when it was only available on the PS3. This effort underscores the desperation of players who want to experience Bloodborne on PC, and some, like Softserve, are taking matters into their own hands.

We know that Miyazaki is aware of the fans' desire to see Bloodborne return, even as a remaster, but there's no telling how long this might take or if it's even on FromSoftware's radar. For those eager to play Bloodborne on PC sooner rather than waiting on FromSoftware and Sony, it’s worth following this mod, showing support, and giving it a try once it becomes playable.
