What is Cyberpsychosis in Cyberpunk 2077 2.0?

While players have been able to power through the game for some time, a whole new era is here as Phantom Liberty arrives and brings along Cyberpunk 2077 2.0. The update is revamping several key areas of the game, and cyberware changes are already making players think about cyberpsychosis.

Whether you've been staying excited by watching Cyberpunk: Edgerunners or are just hoping to know how things will change, we've got everything you need to know about cyberpsychosis including changes in the Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update.

First introduced as a concept when Cyberpunk 2077 first arrived, cyberpsychosis is a mental illness unique to the game caused by overuse of cyberware. The condition primarily appears in the base game of Cyberpunk 2077 by creating powerful enemies called cyberpsychos that you'll be pitted against.

Just like those cyberpsychos, you'll use cyberware to outfit your character in Cyberpunk 2077 with all sorts of powerful upgrades. While it was never a condition players could get in the base game, many are wondering if that could change in the update after cyberpsychosis was spotlighted in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

Will Cyberware give you Cyberpsychosis in Cyberpunk 2077 2.0?

If you're worried about going overboard in Cyberpunk 2077 2.0, the good news is that you'll never actually get cyberpsychosis. The condition remains specific to enemies and not something that can be contracted by overuse of cyberware in the game.

However, that's not to say there won't be potential consequences from excessive cyberware usage. Using too much can start to trigger debuffs to your health and other abilities. If you're hoping to offset this, you'll need to invest in new Edgerunner and Renaissance perks to increase your cyberware limit in Cyberpunk 2077.

These could be particularly valuable following the update as they've revamped armor and tied things more to cyberware rather than the clothing system of the past. If you want to get beefy in combat, being able to handle the extra tech is crucial.
