The legendary American Counter-Strike player, Nick "nitr0" Cannella, is coming home...Yes, nitr0 was a spearhead in Team Liquid's dominance in 2019, winning several trophies and earning the Intel Grand Slam that year in spectacular fashion.
nitr0 left CS for the first time on 14 August 2020 to jump into Valorant, getting signed by 100 Thieves. Then, nitr0 returned to Liquid late in 2021 and retired again in May 2023, returning to Valorant once again in January this year.
On 5 June 2024, M80 officially announced that nitr0 has stepped away from its active Valorant roster.
Despite it not being the first time the 28-year-old would return to CS, it will be the first time he dabbles in the CS2 scene. Nick "nitr0" Cannella's return to the scene is an exciting prospect, and he has reportedly been in talks with a number of teams.
Dust2.us reached out to nitr0 for comment, to which he replied:
VALORANT was not what I expected it to be and I didn't see a future for myself. CS is home and with the lack of IGL's in NA, this is where I belong. I still have a lot to offer to NA CS and I can't wait to give CS2 everything I have.
It just so happens that Team Liquid recently benched Danish IGL Casper "cadiaN" Møller...
Is there a chance nitr0 could return to Team Liquid? Only time will tell, but the player break and what can only be described as "rostermania" is about to start heating up, in my opinion!
