It's been a stressful situation for G2 Esports fans, hopeful that their team would repeat its IEM Dallas 2024 success. Just a couple of days before BLAST Premier Spring Final 2024, the organization revealed that the AWPer, Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, wouldn't make it to London due to Visa issues and that coach Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas would stand in.
Fast forward to the afternoon of 11 June 2024, and there's another update, this time a positive one. m0NESY was, according to a report from HLTV.org, able to secure a Visa at the last minute.
Update: m0NESY will miss the opening match of G2 Esports vs. Team Spirit as his Visa is still in transit, according to a news post from BLAST.
"Despite a last-minute visa approval, m0NESY's passport is apparently still in transit and the postal service should deliver it tomorrow at mid-day."
The Russian star reportedly told fans on Telegram that he is currently flying to pick up his passport and might even make it to London in time for G2 Esports' opening match against Team Spirit. Specifically, m0NESY said:
Got the visa, flying to collect the passport. Really hope they will give it to me, might be in time for the first game.
That's fantastic news for G2 Esports fans, as m0NESY was the spearhead of their attack at IEM Dallas 2024, earning the MVP award in the process.
G2 Esports' first match will occur on 12 June 2024 at 18:30 BST against Team Spirit in Group B. Luckily for m0NESY, that's the second half of matches, as Group A matches begin earlier.
