G2 are currently looking to give their roster a slight shake-up, if new reports are anything to go by. According to HLTV and Dust2.us, the organisation are currently in talks with M80 to transfer Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa and are close to a deal.

The young Guatemalan player is certainly one of M80's best, having helped secure the team top place in ESL Challenger League Season 46 and 47. However, should the deal go ahead, it's unclear who in G2 the player will take over from.

G2 have already had to operate without their usual team in two recent major tournaments. At IEM Dallas 2024, in-game leader Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen was replaced by Jake "Stewie2K" Yip due to HooXi having external commitments. Nikola "NiKo" Kovač took over in-game leader duties.

Just recently, coach Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas stepped in for Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov at the BLAST Premier Spring Final, after it was revealed the latter would miss the team's first match against Team Spirit due to visa issues.

Both missing players have returned to G2 to compete in the (as of writing) on-going BLAST Premier Spring Final. G2's first match of the tournament saw the team put up a fight against Team Spirit, resulting in a 2 : 1 loss. G2 will now go on to face Team Vitality in the elimination match for Group B.
