The Call of Duty franchise is ramping up for a particularly busy period. Warzone is set to go Pacific with its integration into Call of Duty: Vanguard set to happen when that game releases on 5th November.
On the mobile front, the Call of Duty: Mobile developers are getting ready to release Season 9. Admittedly, very little is known about what players can expect in COD Mobile Season 9. Leaks, which are usually sourced from the Chinese version of the game, have been thin on the ground; however, there is some information out there about what we can expect.
It may be that Season 9 just isn't as jam-packed with content as Season 8 was, with its new battle royale map and features and the 2nd Anniversary celebrations.
With that being said, we are sure there will be plenty for players to get their teeth into come launch day. In case you are curious as to what that could entail, then you have come to the right place as we break down everything that we know about Season 9 of COD Mobile.
COD Mobile Season 9 - Release date
While Activision has not yet shared the exact release date for COD Mobile Season 9, we expect it to release on 20th October.
We know this because the end date for the Season 8 battle pass is the 19th and the next season (as well the new battle pass) has historically always started a day later.
We will update this section with more information as it becomes available.
What can we expect?
Well, other than the usual battle pass, we do know that the game will be celebrating Halloween. This has come directly from the development team via the official COD Mobile Reddit, where it was revealed that they were taking a break from posting, but confirmed that Halloween was a major factor in Season 9.
It is highly likely that COD Mobile is getting its own version of "The Haunting" event that is coming to Warzone. The Haunting starts on 20th October, the same date of the new season and leaks have only added credence to this.
Those leaks include the arrival of Zombies to the battle royale mode. This comes from the Chinese version of the game, which usually runs a couple of weeks ahead of the worldwide release.
There has also been a number of leaks around new Operator skins coming to the game.
These include Morte getting a Jigsaw (Billy) skin, which is made famous from the movie Saw, as well as a Leatherface skin, inspired by the Texas Chainsaw Massacres. Both skins are set to appear in Warzone's "The Haunting" event, so their inclusion in COD Mobile, likely running its own The Haunting event, is highly likely.
New weapons in COD: Mobile Season 9
There are usually two weapons introduced to the game's arsenal with each new season. Last season saw the introduction of the M13 assault rifle and R90 shotgun -- both weapons from 2019 Modern Warfare -- and just the latest in a series of weapons added from that title.
So the question begs - could we be getting more MW weapons? Well, possibly. Leaks have suggested that the Swordfish, a 4-round bullpup from Black Ops 4, could be added alongside the M79 "Thumper", a grenade launcher seen in MW 1 and 2.
Nothing is official yet so take this with a pinch of salt.
