As the anticipation reaches a fever pitch with the Civilization 7 release date just a few short weeks away, developer Firaxis Games has announced a unique broadcast that will give fans a huge chance to see the game in action before launch. While many livestreams have allowed developers to dive in and a smattering of gameplay videos have arrived from content creators, they're looking to deliver the chaos of multiplayer Civ 7 at the Civ World Summit.
Civ World Summit set for multiplayer Civilization 7 showdown
Short of buying the Founders Edition or Deluxe Edition to score Early Access on February 6, the best glimpse most players will see of Civ 7 ahead of launch is going to be the freshly announced Civ World Summit. Three days before the worldwide launch, this event will bring five different players together in Hamburg for a live multiplayer game of Civilization 7.
The Civ World Summit will stream live on February 8 at 5pm CET / 8am PT / 11am ET. Fans hoping to tune in can watch on the Fraxis Games Twitch Channel, Civilization YouTube Channel, or the Civilization Facebook Page. For those able to be there in person, tickets are still available for the live studio audience that will witness the Civ World Summit live at the XPERION Hamburg.
As most fans tune in worldwide, they'll get to see "five prominent members of the Civ community" square off in a live multiplayer game of Civilization 7. The event in partnership with Rocket Beans TV will be hosted by Firaxis Community Manager Sarah Engel and prolific Civ YouTuber PotatoMcWhiskey.
Additional details about the Civ World Summit rules and competitors will be revealed closer to the event, but they've confirmed Twitch Drops will be on for players who want an extra cosmetic in Civilization 7. Details on the event also revealed "an exciting announcement" is planned for the livestream.
With a few civs and leaders yet to be revealed, and DLC expected after launch, it's hard to say exactly what fans could learn. Regardless of what Firaxis Games has on deck, both new and die-hard Civ fans won't want to miss seeing five expert players duke it out ahead of the Civilization 7 release date.
