With launch slowly closing in, some of the Civilization 7 leader reveals saved for closer to the end are finally arriving. The Modern Age is finally being showcased, and along with it players have been introduced to two different American leaders.

Benjamin Franklin was glimpsed early on, but little was known about his actual abilities. The latest Civ 7 stream also marked the first reveal of Harriet Tubman, and this Civil War era hero is making her debut in the franchise. Civilization 7 will give players more than one way to build their own America.

In the first Modern Age stream showing off Civilization 7 gameplay of that era, America took the spotlight as only the second officially revealed Modern Age civ. The first was the cultural powerhouse of Mexico, but America will be all about gold.

America's unique ability will gain gold every time a resource is improved, but that only scratches the surface. America will have access to their own unique civilian unit, and the Prospector can activate on unowned land resources then claim a path of tiles back to the nearby settlement.

Civic trees provide gold and production bonuses, and infrastructure like the Steel Mill and Railyard carry the same kind of benefits. While players won't necessarily be required to use America's historically connected leaders, the two American leaders will each provide a very different way to focus that civ.

Harriet Tubman was a true hero during the American Civil War as she helped many enslaved people escape their captors with the Underground Railroad. Tubman was also a scout and spy for the Union Army, and all of this plays into how Tubman will operate in Civilization 7 as a diplomatic and militaristic leader.

Her unique ability, named for the Combahee Raid she led that saved over 700 people, has three key benefits. It will increase influence towards initiating Espionage Actions, gain War Support for all wars declared against her, and give units the ability to ignore movement penalties from vegetated tiles.

The other American leader in Civilization 7 will be Benjamin Franklin, and his scientific and political impacts are center stage for Franklin's leader abilities. A diplomatic and scientific leader, Franklin gains increased science per age on production buildings, increased production towards constructing production buildings, and increased science per age from active Endeavors he starts or supports. Franklin will even be able to have multiple Endeavors of the same type active at a time.

Together, these two monumental figures in American history will give players very different paths to building their empire. American may seem most focused on an economic victory based on the gold and resource bonuses, but those are versatile benefits that could just as easily feed into military, scientific, or cultural victory paths.
