The longest-standing assault rifle in the meta of Call of Duty: Warzone is the M4A1. It was the original dominant AR and has kept a place in many players’ loadouts since the day the battle royale launched.
In Season 3, it was still one of the most popular weapons despite numerous other guns being undoubtedly stronger.
This is for the simple reason of some players not wanting to change up their game too much, no matter what’s in the patch notes with every new update.
While Season 4 hasn’t been active for too long, it’s a safe bet that the M4A1 will once again show up in the kill feed a good amount.
For those wondering if their M4 loadout is still useful in Season 4 or for anyone looking to try out the weapon, read below for our recommended loadout.

Veterans of Warzone likely haven’t had to change up their M4 loadout much over the seasons.
It’s used the same attachments for a majority of its life and Raven Software has turned their attention more to Black Ops Cold War weapons in recent months.
Since Modern Warfare weapons are no longer found as ground loot, there are fewer players running them.
However, the M4A1 is an anomaly. Thanks to its famously strong loadout, it’s stood the test of time. That loadout can be seen below.
- Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
- Barrel: Stock M16 Grenadier
- Optic: VLK 3.0x Optic
- Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
- Ammunition: 60 Round Mags
It’s perhaps the most basic loadout in all of Warzone but the simple fact is it works for any manner of player.
The Monolithic Suppressor, Commando Foregrip and 60 Round Mags are extremely common for MW assault rifles.
They’re easy to master and increase recoil and magazine size without featuring many negatives.
The Stock M16 Grenadier barrel increases damage range, which is vital when going up against the stronger weapons in Verdansk. Lastly, the VLK 3.0x Optic provides a great zoom for players while not making the M4 completely useless at close to medium range.
