The launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War wasn't without issues, as players experienced stability troubles, issues with mouse input and more. Now, a new Black Ops Cold War error called "Blackout Trial" appears to be making waves in the Xbox community, locking players out of content they own.
Black Ops Cold War Blackout Trial Error: Is there is fix?
While we await the release of Black Ops Cold War Season 1 on 16th December 2020, Xbox gamers have been running into an error saying "Blackout Trial Has Expired" which locks them out of multiplayer and zombies, even though they own the full game.
In the image via Luke on Twitter, the error is showcased with the player stating: "Updated Cold War this morning, now I’m getting this message and can no longer access Multiplayer or Zombies? ...and yes, I have the full version."

This Blackout Trial error for Black Ops Cold War appears to be isolated to Xbox systems only, after installing the latest update released on 7th December 2020.
Right now, there is, unfortunately, no fix for the Blackout Trial error. However, Microsoft did acknowledge the issue via the Xbox Support Twitter handle.
Xbox Support explains: "We're aware that some users are seeing a 'Blackout Trial' error after updating Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War on Xbox One and Xbox Series X. We're looking into this issue and we will update you here and on our status page when we know more."
Over on the Xbox Support page, it shows the team is currently investigating the issue, with a rough ETA on the Black Ops Cold War Blackout Trial error fix being 15th December 2020.

Right now, all you can do if you are experiencing this error is hang on and wait for a fix. If the Blackout name seems familiar, it is because of Black Ops 4's Blackout Battle Royale mode back in 2018, which is rather odd.
