With the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 just around the corner, many players are eager to get early access. While some have already secured early copies, others plan to use the New Zealand trick to play the game before its official release.

Let’s dive into the details of what the New Zealand trick is and how it’s allowing players to access Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 ahead of time.

What Is The New Zealand Trick For Black Ops?

For some time now, players have been using a clever trick known as the New Zealand (NZ) trick to access Black Ops and other games early. The idea is simple: by changing your location to New Zealand, you "trick" the game's servers into believing you're in NZ, granting you access to the game much earlier.

The time difference means that midnight on October 25th in New Zealand translates to 4 AM on October 24th Pacific Time, giving players about 8+ hours of early access if they've preloaded the game. While we can't yet confirm if this method will work for this specific release, it has a history of success, making it likely that you'll be able to use it to play early.

How To Use The New Zealand Trick To Play Black Ops 6 Early

If you'd like to try the NZ trick yourself, here’s a quick guide on how to get it working on the platforms the game will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Xbox

To use the New Zealand trick on Xbox, simply change both your Activision and Xbox profiles to New Zealand:

  1. Go to Xbox Settings > System.
  2. Select New Zealand in the Location dropdown and set the Language Region to English (New Zealand).
  3. Press "Restart now" to apply the changes.

Then, on the Call of Duty website:

  1. Log in to your Activision account.
  2. Go to your profile > Basic Info.
  3. Edit your address to any New Zealand location.

This allows you to play Black Ops 6 almost a day early by syncing with New Zealand's release time.

PlayStation

For PlayStation, just change your Activision profile address to New Zealand:

  1. Log in to the Call of Duty website.
  2. Go to your profile > Basic Info and edit your address to a New Zealand one.

No other tricks are needed, but if necessary, you can also set your PlayStation's time zone to New Zealand.

PC

For PC, the New Zealand trick only works if you're using the Xbox PC app (Microsoft Store or Game Pass PC):

  1. In Windows, go to Settings > Time and Language, and change your time zone to Auckland/Wellington.
  2. Log in to the Call of Duty website and update your Activision profile address to New Zealand.

Note: This method won't work for other PC launchers since Black Ops 6 has a global release time, but you may be able to join friends playing on console platforms.
