Bendy and the Ink Machine's new Halloween update features a spooky overlay, adding a touch of holiday fun to the game throughout the season. Given that updates for the 2017 game are quite rare after the release of its sequel, Bendy and the Dark Revival, many fans are wondering whether the October update will remain in the game for years to come.
When asked if the overlay will come back next year, developer and series co-creator Michael R. Desjardins confirmed that "seasons are coded into the game." This means that yes, fans will get to celebrate the holiday every year with some fun in-game changes.
Although it's great to hear that fans will get to enjoy the seasonal updates every year, Desjardins wrote that updates will likely be few and far between - if they come at all - as developers focus on newer projects.
"I don't think I'll do any more seasonal stuff for the old games," Desjardins wrote, citing his busy schedule as the reason. However, he left things off on a hopeful note: "But I won't say never - it's just not in the plan."
While the older games might not be getting frequent updates anymore, the Bendy and the Ink Machine franchise has thankfully had a ton of other new content in store for fans recently.
The director for the Bendy and the Ink Machine Movie will be announced tomorrow, on Halloween - and is someone that TheMeatly has said is both a "famous individual" and understands the franchise very well. He also announced that The Cage is in development again, and should be released sometime in 2025. Also up-and-coming for the Bendy series is Bendy Lone Wolf, a replacement for Boris and the Dark Survival with roguelike mechanics.
