The Underdark in Baldur's Gate 3 is a secret location beneath the vibrant lands of Faerun. It's a labyrinth full of strange towers, mushroom caves, bandits, and more.
It's also one of the few locations through which you can pass to reach the Moonrise Towers and start Act 2 of the main story in Baldur's Gate 3. In short, there's plenty to see, do, and collect in this intriguing location. As such, here's our guide, which explains how to reach the Underdark in Baldur's Gate 3.
How To Get To The Underdark In Baldur's Gate 3
There are several ways to reach the Underdark in Baldur's Gate 3: you can get here from Auntie Ethel's house in the southernmost part of the map: you can drop down from the tangled spider webs straight into the heart of the Underdark from the Whispering Depths Dungeon in the Blighted Village; or you can access it via the Defiled Temple in the Goblin's Camp. In this guide, we focus on the path from the Defiled Temple since you'll be visiting that place for story purposes.
Once you're inside the Goblin Camp, go to the main hall and take the stairs on the left. Go straight ahead, and you will find Priestess Gut's room. She's one of the three Goblin leaders you must kill for the "Save the Refugees" quest. You can persuade Priestess Gut to take you to her room to discuss Illithid Powers. Once inside her room, you can kill her to get the Defiled Temple key. Please note that it's one of the many ways to reach this location. Maybe you don't want any more bloodshed or just want to sneak into the Defiled Temple. You can pick the lock on Priestess Gut's door, but it's tricky because of all the goblin guards in the area.
Once you're inside, turn right, and you will find yourself face-to-face with a gigantic troll named Polma. Again, you can either kill them or persuade them to let you stay. Turn left and keep going until you find yourself in a room with a Stone Disk. You can find the solution to the Stone Disk puzzle in the screenshot below. Alternatively, you can use a lockpick to open the door in the front. We recommend using Astarion for picking any locks in the game because of his Sleight of Hand proficiency bonus. And that's it! Go through the door, and use the staircase to reach the Underdark.
That concludes our guide on how to reach the Underdark in Baldur's Gate 3.
