A large part of Baldur's Gate 3 revolves around exploration, and discovering exactly what you can find in the massive world of Faerun. There are a lot of side quests to find, along with the massive main quest that takes you across multiple vastly different areas of this world, with a lot of characters to recruit and a lot of bosses to defeat. Once you enter Act 2 of the game you enter the Shadow-Cursed Lands, which contains enemies that have been corrupted by darkness, one of which is Gerringothe Thorm, a toll collector in the Reithwin Toll House.
How To Get Rid Of Gerringothe Thorm
Thorm will ask you to pay her once you enter her tollhouse in order to get past her, and you can choose to throw her a coin. If you do, however, she'll ask for another coin and you can then tell her that you won't give her money for what she's offering. You can then perform a Deception check to try and trick her into leaving, then choose from a Deception, Persuasion, or Intimidation check to finally get rid of her.
If you're successful, she'll explode into gold that you can pick up along with dropping all of the items that she was holding, so you can open up the locked door that she was guiding and explore the toll house itself.
If you fail these checks you'll have to fight her, and it's a really tough fight. She's got 600 total health and her visages to help her and will do a LOT of damage to you and your party. Persuading her to leave might be your best bet, saving you a lot of trouble and allowing you to pick her corpse clean of any loot.
