Baldur's Gate 3 releases in August and will likely take over the entire life of several players, and absolutely destroy the Dungeons & Dragons sessions of every single party across the entire world. But exactly how long will the game be? We've got the answer you need to know.
How long will Baldur's Gate 3 take?
According to the head of Larian Studios, Swen Vincke, the game could take between 75 to 100 hours for a single run. In an interview with IGN, he stated:
“Between 75 and 100 hours, that's what we're seeing,” Vincke said. “That's not doing everything, that is just going to be a playthrough. There will be people who will be way over that, the ones who want to do everything. They will probably hit 200 hours, I think. On average we're seeing people who are going through take about 75 to 100 hours.”
Of course, with the advent of multiple potential characters, and the amount of sheer decision-making that you'll be doing in the game, even the higher number that Vincke gives could balloon into something way bigger. You could be playing this game for well over a year, or you could be done without it before Starfield launches and absolutely takes over your entire life. With the fact that the game also has Origin Characters, characters with pre-determined paths, and belief systems that will heavily influence the way that you play the game, you could expect to play the game for over two hundred hours before you even begin to touch upon all of the content.
Hell, some players might end up spending hours just inside the character creator, since that is so incredibly in-depth that you can just lose yourself in changing even the tiniest parts of your player character, and that's before you get onto making multiple different characters for multiple different runs of the game.
