How To Craft the TEK Binoculars in ARK Survival Ascended
The TEK Binoculars are considered the upgraded version of ARK: Survival Evolved's Electronic Binoculars and operate similarly to the spyglass, allowing you to identify creatures, survivors, or structures from a distance. There are some other applications for the device, which we'll cover later, but for now, let's check out the crafting materials for the TEK Binoculars below:
- 50 × Metal Ingot
- 50 × Crystal
- 10 × Electronics
- 25 × Obsidian
Thankfully, the TEK Binoculars don't require very special materials, and you should be able to get your hands on these materials even in the mid-early portions of the game. However, you will need a TEK Replicator to craft them, so check out our guide on how to get your hands on a TEK Replicator here.
Now that we've covered the crafting requirements, let's discuss some of the applications for the TEK Binoculars that make them desirable for many players.
How Do the TEK Binoculars Work in ARK Survival Ascended?
The TEK Binoculars allow you to scout out the terrain for creatures, survivors, or structures, and you can also adjust the zoom with the up and down keys; the maximum zoom is slightly better than the Spyglass'. When looking at a creature or structure, all its stat values are shown, including the current, max, and base values, as well as mutations, levels, and Color IDs.
The Binoculars also offer a somewhat similar effect to the night vision goggles, but with a faintly bluish hue instead, and offer about half the visibility at night that the night vision goggles do.
The TEK Binoculars can also measure the distance from the player to the point the reticle is centred on in meters, and with both of these abilities, they become an excellent tool for nighttime tame hunting, when in caves, or if you're part of a nighttime raid.
So there you have it, all the important details on how to craft and use the TEK Binoculars in ARK Survival Ascended. These binoculars can come in handy when visibility is low and can be the difference between seeing danger in the distance and avoiding surprise attacks, so be sure to try them out.
