Warframe's long-requested crossplay feature finally arrived with the Abyss of Dagath update. It means if you're on PC, you can now play Warframe with a friend on an Xbox, PlayStation, or Switch. Do note that this update only includes crossplay instead of cross-progression, which is a whole other ordeal and is also on its way.
Enabling crossplay in any game can be a bit confusing, and in the case of Warframe, there's also an option to enable crossplay for Clans and Alliances, which involves a few extra steps. As such, in this guide, we explain how crossplay works in Warframe.
How to Enable Crossplay in Warframe
To enable crossplay in Warframe, head to the System tab in the Options menu and look for the Network column. The cross-platform play option is here. Ideally, crossplay should be active from the get-go, but if it's not, you can enable it from here.
Once crossplay is enabled, you can add friends from different platforms by entering their usernames, looking up recent players, or via squad.
How to Enable Crossplay for Clans in Warframe
To enable Crossplay for Clans in Warframe, the Clan founder must go to the Clan Management setting and activate it from there. Once crossplay for clans is enabled, players who join from other platforms will have access to the Clan's Dojo, research progress, and Clan chat.
As of this writing, Trading Posts is limited to players on the same platform, but Digital Extremes is working to get cross-platform trading enabled in the future.
That sums up everything you need to know about crossplay in Warframe.
