CD Projekt RED borrowed its cross-platform save and progression functionalities from Cyberpunk 2077's Edgerunners update as part of its next-gen update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. These features have become major additions to many gaming releases over the years as a way for players to access the game's saved data from various platforms.
As of writing, these features are exclusively available to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S consoles, and you'll need to navigate the in-game settings to enable them. Here's how to enable cross-save and cross-progression in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
How To Enable Cross Progression In The Witcher 3?
Before attempting to enable the cross-save feature for The Witcher 3: Wild hunt, it does require you to have an existing GOG account, but if you don't, you'll need to create an account for this to work. Likewise, you can only cross-save data of the same game version, so if you have the standard edition, cross-save can work if you have this version on another platform.
Locate the "Load" menu option from the main menu, which the next-gen update must be installed before choosing the latest game save file. Similarly, you can create a new one by loading your previously saved file and saving it in the available slot.
Then navigate to the main menu, select the "My Rewards" option, and sign into your GOG account, which triggers an in-game prompt asking to enable cross-progression, which you can accept, and this automatically enables cross-save. You'll recognize a cloud icon beside the latest game save file, which you can access on another platform that must have been updated to the next-gen version.
How To Claim Free Rewards In The Witcher 3?
You can repeat the same steps listed above on the available platforms to retrieve the game save file, and now, you'll be able to progress Geralt's journey on your favorite platforms through cross-save and cross-progression. Additionally, there are rewards on hand you can receive for enabling these features, which we've listed below:
- Swords of the Nine-Tailed Vixen
- White Tiger of the West Armor
- Dol Blathanna Armor Set
- Roach Gwent Card
According to the FAQ page, CD Projekt RED revealed that players could find these rewards by visiting Yennifer's living quarters at the Royal Palace in Vizima. However, they'll need to locate a note within their Inventory under "Usable Items" and head to Vizima after it becomes unlocked through story progression.
