The Texas Chain Saw Massacre game is getting its first DLC called the Nicotero Leatherface DLC - and, while most fans are excited to see new content, many of them aren't so happy with the price point.
The Nicotero Leatherface skin will cost $15.99. The DLC, which releases in October, will include a unique Leatherface mask and outfit designed by horror legend Greg Nicotero, who is known for his work on The Walking Dead and many iconic horror movies like Scream.
Also included are a special signature kill for Leatherface (usable on all Leatherface skins), and an exclusive chainsaw with its own sound.
One Reddit user brought attention to the skin's cost on the game's subreddit, asking, "Are you serious?" regarding it's $15.99 price tag. Other fans also weighed in in the thread, with some also finding the price ludicrous while others argued that it's understandable.
"I would buy this DLC for 9.99 but $15.99 seems a little much," one Redditor wrote.
Another user pointed out that it's unlikely that future DLCs will be the same price, and the reason for the seemingly hefty price tag is that this is a collab with Greg Nicotero, who has worked on The Walking Dead, Scream, Evil Dead 2, and more.
"The reason this is priced higher is probably that it’s designed by Nicotero," they wrote. "Knowing Gun, and how they did with Friday [the 13th], it’s likely future DLCs won’t be more than like 5 bucks or free."
Wes Keltner, CEO of Gun Interactive, touched on what it was like to work with an icon like Nicotero. He wrote, "What's so rewarding about working alongside Greg is his wealth of knowledge, his experience with practical effects, makeup and the art of creature creation."
"He's touched so many horror franchises over the years, it just made sense to bring him on board. And when the two of us get together, it's like kids in a candy store!" Keltner added, mentioning that the result of the collaboration is something he's quite proud of.
Players can decide for themselves whether to pick up the new DLC when it releases in October.
